Reopening of laboratory Radiotherapy

By Paul Rijken on 23 September 2009

Open house at the research group

On September 22nd, the research laboratory of the Department of Radiotherapy was reopened. During the past months, the laboratory has been rebuilt, stocked with new equipment and thus partly transferred into a ML2-laboratory. This means that from now on molecular processes within the cell can also be studied. By means of a new so-called "hypoxystation", (tumor) cell lines can grow under varying physiological conditions. In particular, the growth at low oxygen tension provides new possibilities for research on the department. Another technique that became available at the laboratory is the analysis of proteins in tissues using Western Blots, an important existing application in molecular biological studies.

The research group offered stained, dry-ice cooled "lab drinks" and large "picture cakes".
